The second batch of Coal City Cabs (C.C.C) delivered to Umuchinemere pro-credit Micro Finance Bank Nigeria Limited. (UPMFB) Enugu were blessed at Okpara Square Enugu on Monday 1st March, 2010 by the bank’s Chairman, Msgr. Prof Obiora Ike, and Rev. Fr. Dr. John Amadi.
This batch comprised a total of 300 taxis and they are under the management of UPMFB, just as the first batch of 200 cabs.
Coal City Cabs (C.C.C) scheme is an affirmative development programme of the Sullivan Chime administration in Enugu State aimed at poverty eradiation, particularly among unemployed idle youths of the state.
The C.C.C scheme was commissioned a year ago by Governor Chime himself at a ceremony that attracted a large gathering of people from all walks of life in the state.
Blessing the second batch of cabs, both Msgr. Ike and Fr. Amadi as well as the managing Director, Mrs. Nnenna Maria Ekete, advised the operators of the cabs to handle the taxis with utmost care.
They enjoined them to ensure prompt payment of their daily returns to the bank to enable the government accomplish its aim of embarking on the project.
Responding, the operators of the Cabs promised prompt payment and careful handling of the vehicles. The head Business Development/Finance department of the bank, directly in charge of managing the scheme, Mr. Odinaka Okeke, also stated that the bank would soon organize a workshop for the operators on the best way to handle the cabs to meet the objective of establishing C.C.C. programme.
The new cars, Nissan Model are gradually being distributed to the lucky applicants/operators.
