Spotlight On St. Leo The Great Parish, Federal Housing Abakpa-Nike, Enugu

In continuance of the good works of Rev. Fr. Anthony Ude (Fr. Nigeria), the parish has remained a bee-hive of activities following the posting of activities following the posting of Rev. Msgr. Obiora Ike to St. Leo the Great Parish. At a glance, below is a list of the notable parish activities carried out so far by Msgr. Obiora Ike.

  • Introduction of the Paceland bulletin: Every week, the parish now publishes a bulletin, which contains the weekdays and Sunday liturgical reading, spiritual reflections, short stories, messages, announcements from the parish & diocese, articles from parishioners etc.


  • LAITY WEEK: A laity week has been organized with a great turn out of the faithful. Several themes were chosen to affect children, youth, families, women, men, faith, spirituality and life in general.


  • VALENTINES DAY: 14 February 2010, was a big day for the St. Leo the Great family. The festivity began with art evening mass specially dedicated to the youths and families. Aside motivational talks by professionals in various fields, The SHALOM CHOIR was on ground to render soul touching tunes along side the wining and dining.


  • MOTHERS SUNDAY (UKA NNE): Though a diocesan activity, the parish celebrated the mothers Sunday in a Grande style. Activities began the preceding Thursday with talks, retreat, prayers, social welfare, dance, football competition etc. The high point was the Sunday mass where mothers served at mass, performed liturgical functions and donated gifts to the parish and parish functionaries.


  • HOLY SATURDAY: There was a general clean up of the parish and its environs. The parish priest, Rev. Msgr. Ike was actively involved.
