The date 30th July will remain indelible in the annals of Catholic Institute for Development, Justice and Peace (CIDJAP). It was celebration galore as all roads lead to Ikwuato Street where the office is situated. The event was the send-forth ceremony of the former Deputy director of CIDJAP of Rev. Fr Joseph Chibuzo Inmpey.
Fr Inmpey was posted to CIDJAP, in 2007 and within the period he worked as the Deputy to the Director, Msgr. Obiora Ike. He represented the office in many workshops and conferences.
He maintained a very good rapport with the staff and carried their individual problems as his own. He also helped in beefing up their moral lives by conducting periodic retreats, masses and other religious activities.
The ceremony started with a concelebrated holy mass at the Queen of Peace Chapel. The mass was officiated by Fr. Christian Nwatu and Fr Inmpey. The reading was taken by Barr. P. C. Egbuna and responsorial psalm by Ebelechukwu Odinachi.
During the homily, Fr Inmpey said that Fridays are reminder of the Good Friday on which our Redeemer died. He said that Christians should abstain from meat and some luxury in memory of our Lord's passion.
He also admonished Catholics for abandoning their moral values easily and being led away with the forces of life.
After the mass the reception followed at, Bishop Okoye Memorial Hall CIDAJP. The Director of CIDJAP enumerated the positive virtues of Fr Inmpey and wished him well in his future endavours.
In the same vein, the Staff presented their parting gifts to him too. They also used one stone to kill two birds by presenting a welcome gift to Fr Christian Nwatu, (the present deputy director).
The CIDJAP Director at the same time, was formally presented with a gift for his recent Henrich Pesch Preis award at far away Germany.
The side attractions included the cultural dance by the Oluaka Di Nma Vocational Students and Staff of CIDJAP. There were enough refreshment for everybody and free speeches from the members of the public was taken.
Later on, Fr Inmpey thanked the staff for the honour accorded to him. He praised the CIDJAP Family for their team spirit and the support given to him during his stay.
He prayed that the same support be accorded to his successor, Fr Nwatu. He eulogized the Director for all his kind work to humanity and prayed that CIDJAP remain focused and grow from strength to strength.
Finally, the whole CIDJAP Family wished Fr Inmpey well and prayed that God will continue to guide him in all his endavours and give him the strength to continue in the Lord's vineyard.
