CIDJAP bids farewell to Hannah Seelmann

The atmosphere at the Institute was charged on 3rd November, 2010 as the whole staff bade farewell to Hannah Seelmann, a national of Austria. Hannah arrived Nigeria on 9th August and stayed with CIDJAP for three months.

Within the three months she worked closely with the following staff; secretary of the institute, children sponsorship desk officer, librarian, accountant and helped greatly in attending to orphans and motherless children at the Guardian Angels Motherless Babies Home, Emene. The children were so fond of her that they named her “Aunty Onyeocha”; a name she loves and cherishes so much.

She mixed so easily with the staff, cracked jokes, learnt igbo language and was very proud to address you with that.

She never wanted stay idle and always kept herself busy with work, she indeed had the CIDJAP spirit ‘to be all things to all people”. During the send forth party the staff all bade her farewell and hoped that she remains a good ambassador of CIDJAP and Nigeria in general.

In her response Hannah said that she is overwhelmed by our culture, our openness and cheerful disposition to life and regretted that she will surely miss that.

She frankly said that he notion of Africans is not what they believed in their country and promised that she will pass on the information to her fellow compatriots when she reaches home. She thanked everybody for his/her hospitality and promised to come to Nigeria again
